23 km along the Elbe in Dresden
After a long flight, I headed straight for the Dresden fair/exhibition center, parked the car and did a nice and flat run along the river Elbe.
Length: | 23 km |
Elevation: | 78 m |
Route type: | Loop |
Pavement: | Road |
How to get there: | Easy parking for cars and public transport access as well. Take public transport to Messegelände/Fair Grounds. |
How to shorten/extend run: | Shorten: There is no bridge between the fair grounds and Niederwartha, so the only way to shorten the run is to turn it into an out and back and turnaround. Extent: One could add a loop through the Sportpark Ostra, or a detour through Radebeul. |
I had seen that a friend of mine had posted a similar run on Strava. I parked the car at one of the parking spots near the fair grounds, and took off downstream. I ran along the Elberadweg from Dresden to Niederwratha, where I crossed the Elbe at the Pumpspeicherwerk Niederwatha (only available in German). Then I ran back up the river on the right hand side.
